THE VELD FIRE
Every winter, dry veld is set alight, allowing for the fresh undergrowth to shine through in the springtime. This cocktail represents the Phoenix through the fire.
- 50 mlWhiskey
- 15mlFynbos honey (or any honey)
- 15mlLemon Juice
- 2 slices Fresh Ginger
- 10mlHot Water
- Cubed Ice
- 1 CanSchweppes Ginger Ale
- Lemon Slice and Sprig of Mint
- Served with biltong
To make the perfect Veld Fire, start by placing the freshly sliced fiery ginger at the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add the Fynbos honey and crush the ginger using a muddle stick. Once crushed, add the other ingredients except for the Schweppes Ginger Ale. Shake vigorously and then strain over cubed ice. Finally top it off with Schweppes Ginger Ale and garnish.
*Schweppes Ginger Ale does not contain fresh fruit. The Veld Fire Cocktail, if you follow the recipe, does.
